SearchSense in CAS SciFinder® is now live!

SearchSense delivers an intuitive, natural language search experience that uses science-smart AI to interpret your query and deliver more targeted results. This streamlined approach no longer requires choosing a search type or using complex Boolean language to achieve targeted results. Below are a few highlights of these new capabilities, but for more detailed information, log in to CAS SciFinder today:
- Natural language query interpretation and display - Start every search by entering a natural language query into the new omnibox search bar. Instantly get direct answers, complete with source details, for queries ranging from substance property, spectra, safety information, or price to reaction procedure, reactions by yield, or even suppliers for a substance, saving you time and simplifying the query creation process.
- Reference search optimization - Using AI for more intelligent natural language query interpretation, query phrasing will now be considered more routinely (e.g., searching “historical medical practices” will now return results based on ‘historical’ and ‘medical’ and ‘practices’ as opposed to treating them as three independent concepts). This will provide much more relevant results without added complexity in query creation (such as Boolean search).
- Reference analytics - When performing topical queries, you will now see insights on publication trends, including publications by year, top organizations, and top concepts. This makes it easier to identify and understand research trends related to the topic.
