PhD. study
The graduates of the study programme Pharmacognosy have extensive knowledge and practical skills in the study of natural medicines or crude drugs produced from natural sources such as plants, microbes, and animals, and also on biosynthetic pathways of natural compounds. Pharmacognosy includes analyses of biological, chemical, biochemical, and physical properties of natural sources and natural drugs. Research aims on intensive studies of phytochemicals that might lead to phytopharmaceuticals and traditional herbal medicines that fulfil criteria of Evidence Based Medicine. Ethical issues associated with the use of natural products as medicines are respected as well.
Research areas determining PhD. thesis goals of work:
- Plant secondary metabolites influencing diabetes mellitus and its complications
