Pharmaceutical chemistry
During the PhD. study, the student acquires knowledge in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in this study program. The main goal is focused on the design, synthesis, analysis, and evaluation of biologically active compounds. In the study, the students learn to form a scientific problem independently, to form a scientific hypothesis, prepare and realise a scientific experiment. These activities' main aim are theoretical and practical mastering methods for chemical studies of biologically active compounds. The students' abilities after completion of the study will result from frame topics which are: design of novel biologically active compounds, total synthesis of biological active compounds, chemical modification of natural compounds with goal to increased their biological activities, structure determination of prepared compounds, analytical evaluation of reaction mixtures as well as isolated products, drugs and biologically active compounds, study of physicochemical properties of prepared compounds, study of interactions between biologically active compounds and lipids, proteins and DNA extracted from biological sources, evaluation of biological activities of biologically active compounds at different levels (in silico, in vitro, in vivo), evaluation of the toxicological effect of drugs and biologically active compounds on model organisms in relation to their impact on the human body and the environment. To achieve necessary research results during the study, it is required that students not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also gain skills in the field of modern synthetic methods, preparative and analytical instrumental methods, used in pharmaceutical chemistry.
Graduates from the PhD. study programme Pharmaceutical Chemistry, doctoral university study, will master scientific work principles and methodology. They will be able to perform professional and scientific activities in pharmacy, chemistry, and pharmaceutical research. The academic knowledge and practical skills they acquired during the study will allow them to work as researchers in related medical, pharmaceutical, and natural science branches, such as e. g., inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, nuclear chemistry, and medical chemistry. Knowledge and skills will also be used in solving multidisciplinary problems with connection to pharmaceutical technology, pharmacology, etc. The graduates can work independently in science and bring their solutions to the branches mentioned above.
The requirement for completion of the study programme is the knowledge and further development of methods of research and development of new synthetic drugs including design, synthesis, analysis, and evaluation of bioactive compounds. A successful graduate of the doctoral studies must prove that he has not only required theoretical knowledge in the field, but also practical research skills in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry and is able to work independently. At the same time, he must be able to present results of his own research to the professional community at conferences and scientific events and publish articles in scientific journals.
Pharmaceutical technology
During the doctoral study, the student in this study program acquires knowledge in the field of pharmaceutical technology, focusing on the issues of composition, formulation, production, evaluation (testing), and quality assurance of medicines, whether individually prepared (compounded) or mass-produced (manufactured). The students will expand their knowledge about the conditions under which a drug and pharmaceutical excipient can be created into a drug, the regularities that govern drug formulations, and the relationships of drugs to the effect of drugs applied in them. In the course of study, the student learns to independently formulate a scientific problem, formulate a scientific hypothesis, and prepare and conduct a scientific experiment. The main goal of these activities is theoretical as well as practical mastery of methods used in pharmaceutical technology.
Graduates from the Ph.D. study programme Pharmaceutical Technology, doctoral university study, will master the principles and methodology of scientific work. They will be competent to carry out professional and scientific activities in the field of pharmacy, pharmaceutical research, and pharmaceutical industry. The theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired through their studies will also enable them to pursue the profession of researcher in related medical, pharmaceutical, and natural sciences, disciplines, and study programs such as analytical chemistry, physics, biophysics, physical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, biotechnology, materials technology. Knowledge and skills will also be applied in solving multidisciplinary problems with links to pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, etc. Absolvents of the program have the ability to work independently scientifically and bring their own solutions in these disciplines, scientific fields, and study programs.

Pharmacognosy
During the doctoral studies in this study programme, the student acquires knowledge in the field of pharmacognosy, focusing on the isolation, identification and evaluation of biologically active compounds of natural origin. In the course of studies, the student learns to formulate a scientific problem independently, to formulate a scientific hypothesis, to prepare and carry out a scientific experiment. The main objective of these activities is theoretical as well as practical mastery of methods used in pharmacognostic study of biologically active compounds of natural origin. The student's abilities upon completion of the study programme will be based on the following framework topics: Search for new natural sources of biologically active compounds, isolation of biologically active natural compounds, analytical evaluation of natural sources, search for chemotaxonomic relationships, study of plant biosynthetic processes, determination of the structure of isolated natural compounds, study of physicochemical properties of isolated natural compounds, optimization of extraction of natural sources in the isolation of content compounds, standardization of prepared extracts, evaluation of biological activities of biologically active natural compounds in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo, study of interactions between isolates of natural origin in the evaluation of their biological activities, study of interactions between isolates of natural origin and (semi)synthetic drugs in the evaluation of their biological activities, interpretation of bioassay results by molecular docking methods, evaluation of the toxicological effect of natural isolates on model organisms in relation to their impact on the human organism and the environment. In order to achieve the results of research during the study, students are required to acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also skills in modern experimental methods used by pharmacognosy.
Graduates of the Pharmacognosy, 3rd cycle of the degree programme will be proficient in the principles and methodology of scientific work and will be able to carry out professional and scientific activities in the field of pharmacy, pharmacognosy and pharmaceutical research. The theoretical knowledge and practical skills they will acquire through their studies will also enable them to pursue a career as a scientist in related pharmaceutical disciplines, such as galenic pharmacy and pharmacology. Graduates have the ability to work independently as scientists and to provide their own solutions in these fields.
The requirement for graduation is the knowledge and development of new methods of research and development of natural pharmaceuticals focused on their discovery, isolation, analysis and biological evaluation. A successful PhD graduate must demonstrate that he/she has not only theoretical knowledge in the field, but also practical skills in pharmaceutical research and is able to work independently in a scientific manner. At the same time, he/she must be able to present his/her own research results to the professional public at conferences and scientific events and by publishing articles in professional journals.
Pharmacology
Graduate of the study program Pharmacology - 3rd degree (PhD) shall master the scientific methods of research in study program Pharmacology focusing on research and development of new biologically active molecules, new mechanisms of action of known biologically active molecules and identification of new pharmacological targets. The focus covers one or more of the following areas of pharmacology: pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, drug toxicology, pharmacogenetics, dosology, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, molecular pharmacology, and therapeutic use of drugs.
During their doctoral study, the students in the study program Pharmacology (3.degree of university education) shall obtain knowledge from the area of pharmacology, with focus on the topics of drug actions on the molecular and cellular levels, as well as on the level of the whole organism. The focus is pertinent to one or more of the following areas of pharmacology: pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenomics, toxicology of drugs, pharmacogenetics, posology, drug interactions, adverse effects, molecular pharmacology and therapeutic use of drugs. The graduate of the doctoral study shall be able to identify and formulate scientific problems, carry out experiments, obtain experimental data, and to process the obtained data and to interpret them taking into account the current state of knowledge, to formulate conclusions and publish them in the scientific and expert literature. In addition, the graduate shall be capable of performing active teaching activities. During their study, the students shall learn to master scientific methods of research and development in the study program pharmacology and related study programs, i.e. to self-sufficiently formulate the scientific problem, to formulate scientific hypothesis, to prepare and realize a scientific experiment. The main purpose of these activities is the theoretical as well as practical mastering of methods used in pharmacological research of biologically active substances. The abilities of the graduate of the study program shall stem from the framework of the following topics: pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of synthetic and natural drugs and biologically active molecules, receptor and target structures for drugs and biologically active molecules, study of effects of drugs and biologically active molecules on biochemical, molecular-biology-related, genetic or pathological processes of cells, tissues, organ systems and living organisms, study of translational potential and development of in silico methods for verification of pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic properties of drugs, study of aspects of bioavailability of drugs and biologically active molecules in relation to disease treatment, study of interactions of biologically active substances with lipids, proteins and DNA extracted from biological sources, evaluation of biological activity of biologically active compounds on various levels, evaluation of pharmacologic and toxicologic effects od drugs and biologically active compounds in model organisms in relation to their effect on the human body and environment, identification of novel pharmacological targets for the development of innovative drugs, pre-clinical and clinical research of innovative drugs with focus on the areas of pharmacokinetics, toxicokinetics, primary, secondary and safety pharmacodynamics. To obtain experimental results during their study, the students are required not only to obtain theoretical knowledge, but also to obtain practical skills in the area of modern experimental physiologic, molecular biology-related, biochemical and clinic-diagnostic methods used by pharmacology and related disciplines.
Graduates of the study program Pharmacology shall master the principles and methodology of scientific work and shall be qualified to carry out expert and scientific activities in the areas of pharmacy and pharmaceutical research with emphasis on pharmacological aspects. The graduates of the study program Pharmacology shall demonstrably have broad theoretical knowledge that shall, together with practical skills, enable them to: perform scientific research and bring novel knowledge as well as their own solutions of problems in the area of pharmacology that can be used at the theoretical level and pharmacotherapeutic practice, possibly for the development of other related programs.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills obtained during the study shall enable the graduates also to perform the profession of a researcher in related medicinal, pharmaceutical and life-science scientific disciplines and study programs, such as clinical pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, toxicology, molecular biology, normal and pathological physiology. The graduates of the study program Pharmacology shall have the ability to work as self-sufficient scientists and to bring their own solutions in the listed scientific disciplines and study programs. The graduates of the program Pharmacology shall have demonstrably mastered the principles of scientific work, fundamentals of scientific formulation of problems, mastered the legal aspects of experimental and clinical research, ethical and social aspects of scientific work, presentation of results to the expert public at conferences and scientific events and in the form of publishing articles in expert, particularly scientific journals.
Clinical Pharmacy
Graduate of the study program Clinical Pharmacy - 3rd degree (PhD) shall master the scientific methods of research in study program Clinical Pharmacy focusing on the effective and safe use of medicines. The focus covers one or more of the following areas of clinical pharmacy: preclinical and clinical evaluation of new drugs, clinical pharmacokinetics, prevention and pharmacotherapy of acute and chronic diseases, pharmacotherapeutic problems and drug errors, pharmaceutical care, rational use of drugs in risk groups of patients, drug toxicology, pharmacogenetics and pharmacovigilance.
During their doctoral study, the students in the study program Clinical Pharmacy (3.degree of university education) shall obtain knowledge from the area of clinical pharmacy , with focus on use of medicines, with an emphasis on their rational and safe use, to provide information and advice on medicines as such, including their proper use, to report adverse reactions to pharmaceuticals to the competent authorities, to provide personal assistance to patients taking medicines, to contribute to local and national public health campaigns, drug regulation and the provision of clinical pharmaceutical care. The graduate of the doctoral study shall be able to identify and formulate scientific problems, carry out experiments, obtain experimental data, and to process the obtained data and to interpret them taking into account the current state of knowledge, to formulate conclusions and publish them in the scientific and expert literature. In addition, the graduate shall be capable of performing active teaching activities. During their study, the students shall learn to master scientific methods of research and development in the study program clinical pharmacy and related study programs, i.e. to self-sufficiently formulate the scientific problem, to formulate scientific hypothesis, to prepare and realize a scientific experiment. The main purpose of these activities is the theoretical as well as practical mastering of methods used in clinical pharmaceutical research of medicines.
Graduates of the study program Clinical Pharmacy shall master the principles and methodology of scientific work and shall be qualified to carry out expert and scientific activities in the areas of pharmacy and pharmaceutical research with emphasis on clnical pharmaceutical and clinical pharmacological aspects. The graduates of the study program Clinical Pharmacy shall demonstrably have broad theoretical knowledge that shall, together with practical skills, enable them to: perform scientific research and bring novel knowledge as well as their own solutions of problems in the area of clinical pharmacy that can be used at the theoretical level and pharmacotherapeutic practice, possibly for the development of other related programs.

The graduates of the program Clinical Pharmacy shall have demonstrably mastered the principles of scientific work, fundamentals of scientific formulation of clinical pharmaceutical and clinical pharmacological problems, mastered the legal aspects of clinical research, ethical and social aspects of scientific work, presentation of results to the expert public at conferences and scientific events and in the form of publishing articles in expert, particularly scientific journals.
