Individual study plan of a PhD. student
PhD. studies are carried out using the credit system and take place according to an individual study plan. The study plan is drawn up by the supervisor and approved by PhD committee.
The PhD. student's individual study plan contains a list of subjects to be taken by the PhD. student, a list of subjects for the dissertation exam, selected from the list approved by the PhD. committee, and a list of mandatory and recommended literature that the PhD. student should study as part of his individual preparation for the dissertation exam. The PhD. student's individual study program also includes dates in which the PhD. student must complete individual subjects and the dissertation exam.
PhD. studies consist of a study section and a scientific section.
The study section of the PhD. studies mainly consists of lectures, seminars and individual study of professional literature necessary from the point of view of the focus of the dissertation. The study part ends with passing the dissertation exam. In addition, the PhD. student has the opportunity to enroll in subjects offered by the faculty or other faculties of the Comenius University in their study programs, especially in the master's degree, if they have not already completed them in the previous stage of university studies.
The scientific section of the PhD. study consists of individual or team scientific work of the PhD. student, which is related to the topic of the dissertation; the scientific part of the PhD. studies is professionally guaranteed by the supervisor.
Part of the PhD. studies in full-time form is the performance of pedagogical activity or other professional activity related to pedagogical activity in the scope of no more than four hours per week on average for the academic year in which the teaching takes place.
During the studies, a PhD student receives credits mainly for the following areas of activity:
a) subjects of the study section of the PhD. studies,
b) a successfully completed dissertation exam,
c) individual creative activities in the field of science or research (publication activity, completion of the stage of research work defined in the individual study plan, etc.), which is related to the topic of the dissertation,
d) pedagogical activities at the Comenius University or Faculty of Pharmacy CU (conducting exercises, seminars, etc.),
e) dissertation and its defense.
The PhD. student must obtain credits in the composition determined in the study program.
