Medicinal Plants Garden
The Medicinal Plant Garden (ZLR) is an internal facility of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University, whose main purpose is to collect, maintain and disseminate domestic and foreign medicinal and potentially medicinal plants. The department's gene pool includes approximately 850 plant species. The department cooperates with 150 domestic and foreign partners. Through the Index seminum it exchanges seeds and vegetal material with partner institutions.
The cultivated plant material is used primarily for the needs of teaching compulsory and compulsory elective subjects of pharmaceutical studies (pharmaceutical botany, medicinal plants and pharmacognosy), for diploma and doctoral students, as well as for scientific and research purposes of pedagogical and scientific staff of the faculty.
In its scientific and research activities, the ZLR, in cooperation with domestic and foreign institutions, focuses on the studies of pharmaceutically important biologically active substances. The results obtained are continuously published in scientific journals.
